After an exciting weekend in college football, there were some enticing storylines. Thursday night Purdue made a crucial personal foul penalty that cost them their opening game against conference opponent Northwestern. The final score was 31 – 27.
The weekend carried along with West Virginia blowing Tennessee with their Heisman candidate quarterback, Will Grier, throwing five touchdown passes. The final score was 40 – 14.
Michigan State escaped Utah State by a touchdown and highly ranked Penn State narrowly beat Appalachian State by a single touchdown in overtime. The final score for the Michigan State vs Utah State game was 38 – 31 and the final score for the Penn State vs Appalachian State game was 45 – 38.
Top 25 teams UCF, TCU, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia, and Alabama blew out their inferior opponents. Texas was upset by Maryland, Notre Dame beat Michigan, LSU topped top 10 opponent Miami, and Virginia Tech upset Florida State in a blowout fashion.
In the game of the week, both top 10 ranked teams Auburn and Washington went toe to toe with Auburn narrowly escaping with the win.
In the newest top 25 rankings, LSU and Virginia Tech made the biggest leaps. While number 8 Miami dropped all the way to 22.
This season is going to be one of excitement and unpredictableness leaving us ready for week 2 to start.
